Said to be the untold story of the Wizard of Oz, Wicked is a spinoff that follows the life of The Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba. Wicked shows how she was in fact the victim and that her status as the Wicked Witch of the West came about as a reaction against the corrupt Wizard government.
Wicked was based on the Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, an interesting, alternative take on the classic story of The Wizard of Oz.
Often referred to as Wicked The Hit Musical, Wicked is a must see musical for anyone already familiar with the story of The Wizard of Oz. The West End production opened in 2006 and is currently booking until October 27th 2012. The West End cast currently consists of Rachel Tucker as Elphaba, Louise Dearman as Glinda and Clive Carter as The Wizard of Oz.
